“The unselfish effort to bring cheer to others will be the beginning of a happier life for us.” — Helen Keller

Christmas Time and the beginning of a year is generally a time when various businesses come up with different types of deals to make more money. Let us introduce you to a business that took this opportunity to give back to society.

YachtYaari is a Mumbai-based Yacht Charter business, run by two Mumbaikars Rachna Sanklecha and Namisha Chopra. They customize sailing experiences exclusively for customers on Private Yachts right in the heart of Mumbai, near our very own Gateway of India. With years of experience in the field of sailing, they want to share their passion for sailing with as many people as possible.

They organized a 5-tier donation drive called Spirit of Giving. For the donation drive, they collaborated with renowned foundations like Robinhood Army, Isha Vidhya of Isha Foundation, and Rang De Foundation. The itinerary of the donation drive was as follows:

1) On 2nd January, they organized a sail for underprivileged kids in association with Robinhood Army. 21 underprivileged kids were taken for a sail around the Gateway of India. Before the sail, refreshments were distributed to the kids. Activities like feeding the seagulls and word games were conducted during the sail.

2) On 4th January, a yearlong educational scholarship was sponsored for a kid from Isha Vidhya or Isha Foundation.

3) On 5th January, lunch for 100 kids at a remand home in Chembur was organized. Basic essential supplies were also provided to the concerned remand home.

4) On 6th January, a social investment i.e. a microcredit investment was done at Rang De Foundation to support the entrepreneurial needs of various low-income households all over India.

5) On 7th January, a lunch was organized for the residents of Shepherd’s Old Age Widows’ Home. Basic essential supplies were also provided to the concerned old age home.

“We wanted to make a difference by gifting a wonderful experience at the very beginning of the year to those who cannot afford it. We couldn’t have done it without the support and contributions of our customers, friends, and family who contributed immensely to this cause. The team of YachtYaari is extremely thankful to each one of them who made Spirit of Giving possible. A special thanks to those who took out time and came for the sail. We value their efforts and philanthropy. “, a message from the team of YachtYaari.

The overwhelming response from this initiative has encouraged the entire team to conduct similar giveaway events as frequently as possible They are contemplating the idea of keeping a permanent share out of business profits towards similar initiatives which will help bring joy. “When we came up with this idea, a lot of our contributors continually asked to let them know if we needed anything more. We were just merely mediums. Together as a community, we can do so much more. So, it’s going to become a tradition for us to give back to the society once in a while.”, added the team of YachtYaari.

A lot will be happening at YachtYaari. You can follow them on Instagram at http://www.instagram.com/yachtyaari and on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/setsailwithyachtyaari.
