8 Women Officers As Police Station In-Charge, A First In Any City In The Country, Protecting The Good & Destroying The Evil, With A smile Each Day

Mumbai is sometimes mentioned as मुं “भाई” ( भाई – brother) shall also be mentioned as मुं “बहन” (बहन” – Sister) . The women has been consistently proving its worth in the area of women empowerment in Mumbai city.
Just after the recent news of Matunga Railway Station With 41 Women Staffer, now Mumbai is only city in the country with 8 Women Police Officers as police station in-charge.
The eight women who are leading police stations in Mumbai are :
- Alka Mandave of Airport Police Station
- Rashmi Jadhav of Cuffe Parade Police Station
- Mrudula Lad for Sion Police Station
- Lata Shirsat at Sahar
- Jyotsna Rasam at Vanrai
- Rohini Kale for Pantnagar Police Station and
- Vidhyalaxmi Hiremath for Aarey Police Station
Among the women officers, Senior Inspector Lad stands out because she has been a part of shootout in 1996 when Mumbai Police was facing underworld. She managed to arrest Ravi Bora alias DK Rao, a prominent gangster.
Deepak Devraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mumbai Police spokesperson told “We are the first in the country to appoint women Senior Police Inspectors. We received an overwhelming response after the first tweet on the Mumbai police handle on Saturday. It has been shared over 300 times and liked by 1400 people.”
