Yashasvi Jaiswal is a talented young Indian cricketer who is primarily known for his batting skills. He was born on December 28, 2001, in Suriyawan, Uttar Pradesh, India. Jaiswal is a left-handed batsman and occasional left-arm spin bowler. He has been touted as one of the most promising prospects in Indian cricket representing Mumbai cricket team.

Jaiswal’s journey in cricket began at a very young age when he moved to Mumbai, in pursuit of his cricketing dreams. His father Bhupendra Jaiswal, a small-time shopkeeper in Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh and Yashasvi was fourth of six children.

He faced numerous challenges, He lived in a tent at the Azad Maidan ground in Mumbai in prospect of practicing cricket. He use to selli Pani puri to support himself financially. Earlier he worked in a dairy shop doing cleaning work. Despite these hardships, his passion for the game remained unwavering.

Cricketing Career

In 2015, Jaiswal made his mark by scoring 319 runs in a Harris Shield inter-school cricket match, becoming the youngest batsman to achieve a triple century in a competitive game. This exceptional performance earned him recognition and opened doors to further opportunities.

In 2016, Yashasvi Jaiswal was selected to represent India in the Under-19 Asia Cup held in Sri Lanka. He showcased his talent by scoring a century against Afghanistan in the final, helping India clinch the title. This performance caught the attention of selectors and cemented his position as a rising star in Indian cricket.

Jaiswal’s breakthrough moment came in the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in South Africa. He emerged as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 400 runs in just six matches. His impressive batting display included a century against Pakistan in the semi-finals. Although India lost in the final against Bangladesh, Jaiswal’s consistent performances earned him the “Player of the Tournament” award.

IPL Performance

After his successful Under-19 World Cup campaign, Jaiswal attracted the attention of various Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises. He was eventually signed by the Rajasthan Royals for the 2020 season. In September 2020, he made his IPL debut against the Chennai Super Kings. He made his maiden half-century against Chennai Super Kings on 2 October 2021. Jaiswal made his maiden century in T20 cricket on 30 April 2023, scoring 124(62) against Mumbai Indians but they lost the match. By hitting 50 in just 13 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders on 11 May 2023 became the fastest IPL half century scorer.
