The girl from Goregaon Priya Darshini now based in US, her album “Periphery” has been nominated in the Best New Age Album category at the 63rd Grammy Awards. This award ceremony to be held on 31st January 2020 Staples Center in Los Angeles.
She is multi-talented voice over artist, composer, actress, athlete, entrepreneur and philanthropist by supporting cancer patients to funding government schools in rural Maharashtra. She is known for musical recordings in Bollywood and western productions, her role in The Letters (a 2014 American biographical drama film), and becoming the first Indian woman to complete the 100-mile Himalayan Ultra Marathon.
Priya has collaborated with a wide range of artists from Pearl Jam; GRAMMY® Award winners Roy “Futureman” Wooten; Jeff Coffin, Philip Lassiter, Silk Road Ensemble’s Shane Shanahan; virtuoso ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro, Karsh Kale and more.
She is a trustee of the Mumbai-based non-profit organisation Jana Rakshita – an NGO working with underserved pediatric cancer patients, and building infrastructure for schools, with a focus on education for girls. Priya Darshini is also an environmentalist.
