Mumbai already struggling with many Covid-19 patients. Even our caretakers such as a Policeman, Doctors and hospital staff are affected and numbers are increasing. Under such stressful situations, they live without food and water with only the aim of saving people’s life. One such example is Sub Inspector Pramod Mane who is posted at Dharavi Police station.

Pramod Rane got the good news of his wife delivering a baby on 23rd March 2020 in Sangli, Maharashtra. Inspite of taking leave and meet the newborn, he chose to do his duty when the country was under the shadow of lockdown.

He was posted in Dharavi which was emerging hotbed for Covid-19 positive patients. On 28th April, Sub Inspector Pramod Mane himself was tested positive and was admitted to a private hospital. But he never revealed to his family about being Covid positive.

As reporting to Times of India he told, “I didn’t want my family to get infected. They would try to come to Mumbai if I told them”. Other family members are his parents, wife, a 7-year-old daughter and the newborn.

The Sub Inspector successfully overcome Covid-19 on 11th May. Inspite of returning home, he joined his duty on 20th May and continued to work at the containment zone. It was on 16th June he decided to go home for 10 days and joined his duty again.

Pramod Rane’s dedication is truly appreciated by his seniors and colleagues. We too all proud of having such dedicated Policemen.
