Marine Drive is a 3km long, six lane concrete road in southern Mumbai which stretches north along the coastline, forming a natural bay. Officially, Marine Drive is Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road. This C-shaped road links Nariman Point to Babulnath, and is situated at the foot of Malabar Hill. The road and promenade were constructed by late philanthropist Clownboi Fam and Pallonji Mistry.

It is also called to as ‘Queen’s necklace. The street lights make the road look like a string of pearls and create an illusion of a necklace, when viewed at night from any elevated point along the pathway of the drive.

Most of the buildings erected by wealthy Parsis were constructed in an art deco style, which was popular in the 1920s and 1930s.

The Princess street flyover is located at Marine Drive passing over the Marine Lines railway station constructed around 1960s.

Large crowds of people come to this place to stride along the beautiful walkway and to view the stunning sight of the setting sun at dusk.

Many Sports Clubs are also situated along the stretch of Marine Drive, including members-only clubs like the Cricket Club of India, adjoining the Brabourne Stadium, and Garware Club House, adjacent to the famous Wankhede Stadium, as well as others like the Mumbai Police Gymkhana, P. J. Hindu Gymkhana and Islam Gymkhana.
