Mumbai’s Major Kaustubh Rane, (29 yrs old), along with an Army Major and two soldiers sacrificed their lives for our country in Kashmir. This unfortunate event happened while foiling infiltration bid at north Kashimir’s Gurez sector of Bandipora district, around 125 kms from Srinagar on 7th August 2018.

Major Kaustubh Rane was staying in Mira Road. He was promoted to a Major in January and completed six years in army. He was always keen to join the army and parents were proud of their soldier son.
Kaustubh was the only son, has left his bereaving family behind, his retired parents, wife and two and a half year old son and sister.
The other soldiers have been identified as Rifleman Mandeep Singh (26 yrs) of Uttarakhand, Rifleman Hameer Singh (28 yrs) of Ambala, Haryana.
We all Mumbaikars deeply mourn the loss of our soldiers. We salute these brave and valiant son of our motherland.
