In Maharashtra during Diwali fort making is a peculiar tradition were children and elders make small forts made from mud.

After making the fort, small figurines are placed on it and light oil lamps.

Tradition has come since Maratha period and Maharashtra having more than 350 forts. Many of these forts are associated with the great Maratha king, Shivaji Maharaj.

The upcoming workshop is scheduled on 15th Oct 2017 at Mulund where around 300 kids are expected to participate.

In 2015, as a part of awareness, we conducted Fort making  workshop for Diwali at Hill View Building no. 20, Bimbisara Nagar, Goregaon (East).

Kids gave overwhelming response and were very excited to make the fort. Not only children, elders too had opportunity to learn how to make forts and have the feel of it. Along with fort making, also taught how to make kandeel. A big Diwali Kandeel was made for the society.

Artist Sameer Dhage, Mahesh and Ashish assisted the kids and successfully conducted the event. Mr Shrinivas, Mr Chincholikar and other members of the society took keen interest in supporting this cause.
