National Bird Day 2026 celebration at IIT Bombay

National Bird Day 2026 was celebrated at IIT Bombay on 5 January 2026, marking the conclusion of Bird Watching Month organised by the Biodiversity Lab under the Office of the Dean (IPS), IIT Bombay.

The programme began at Soneri Baug with the inauguration of the Bird Map of IIT Bombay by Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, in the presence of senior faculty members. The map, designed by Pitta Labs, showcases the rich bird diversity found across the IIT Bombay campus.

Several educational and interactive activities were organised for students and nature enthusiasts. School children participated enthusiastically in workshops and nature walks, making the event both informative and enjoyable.

The formal session featured expert talks highlighting bird conservation, scientific insights, and the importance of curiosity in observing nature. The programme concluded with prize distribution for creative competitions related to birds.
