26th July, it’s exactly 16 years ago what Mumbai had experienced the most dreadful experience. It was 26th July 2005 deluge made Mumbai to experience greatest havoc made by rain recording whopping 944 mm of rainfall only in suburb areas. Thousands of Mumbaikars stranded and were praying for life. Many Mumbaikars lost their life drowning in water.
But here is one of the experience of a Mumbaikar who almost defied death. He is here to tell his story. His name is Dilip Padiyar.
The incidence took place near Kurla. Even today he feels the impact of the dreadful experience, whenever heavy rain occurs in Mumbai.
He was newly married and was on his way back home at Ghatkopar. He climbed the top of the bus due to increasing water levels. While trying to escape by holding the pipe towards Kurla flyover, he lost the control and started drowning.
“I STARTED drowning and thought it was end of my life. I apologized my wife for leaving her.”
But something miraculous happened. Someone caught hold tightly his shirt collar and pulled him out. Then with the support of pipe overhead managed to reach Kurla flyover.
