Matunga Railway Station With Women Staff In Limca Book of Records

Till now we have heard about women operating in male sector such as drivers, conductor and so on. Now first time in Indian Railways that a station being managed by all woman staff and Matunga railway station have achieved it.

According to Railway official, on Tuesday, Matunga railway station on the Central Railway, made its way into the Limca Book of Records for being the first Indian Railways station being run by an all-woman staff.

Features of Matunga Railway Staion:

The women ticket checkers at the Matunga station have even learned how to deal with male passengers.

One of the ticket checking staffers posted at the station said, “We faced a few challenges, especially during night shifts. Unsocial elements, druggies often moved about in the vicinity of the station. But with the support from the administration, we quickly streamlined these issues.”

Chief PRO of CR Sunil Udasi said, “The staff has been handling all operations of the station round-the-clock for the last six months and results are positive and encouraging. “The idea is to create an environment where women are encouraged to take decision about their own personal and professional well being,” he said.
