In Mumbai it was bright sunny afternoon on 6th October, but all of sudden from 4 pm onwards the weather got cloudy and eventually after sometimes it was dark as if it was 7 pm. Mumbai and surroundings experienced thunder and lightning with some heavy spells of rain along with gusty winds.
The peninsular India is under the grip of low pressure belt due to cyclonic circulation over west Bay of Bengal.
At one end the withdrawal of monsoon has started bringing dry winds to Mumbai and other areas. At other end there is incursion of moist wet winds from Bay of Bengal. The boundary at which both meets result in formation of huge clouds giving thunderstorm and lightning.
