Why Celebrate Navratri and importance of dance?
It is celebrated since Maa Durga defeated Mahisasura on tenth day after fighting for long 9 day battle. Mahisasura was a demon who defeated Lord Indra (God of Heaven) and remained undefeated. So the Gods created Durga an avatar of Godess Parvati or Shakti.
During Garba dance and the Dandiya Raas a small earthen pot with holes is kept. This is called the “Garbo” in Gujarati which means a “womb” in Sanskrit. It symbolizes the divine energy of Maa Ambe.
